Top Side Almost Done

After much thinking,  I decided to bust out my Barry King Geometric tool for the center design.   The border tools are both Barnes -Hacbarth.   The veiner  is an older Barry King tool.  Now, I have to cut out the small cavity above the area were the badge will go and on to the liner.

Final Project for 2011

I sure take it to the 2011 comes to an end, find myself working on the final commission piece of the year.  It is a pocket flap badge holder.  Thanks to White's Leather Shop for being kind enough to share their design, which I have started to tweak to my liking based on the actual badge.  Stay tune

Professional Leather Punch

Here is a new toy added to my collection.   Chuck Smith Tools just put on the market an updated version for sale.  This little baby has a lever action which is controlled by a spring that will reset it after each action.  It also has a spring adjustment for spacing of holes.  This particular unit came from an owner/user.  It only came with a 3/32" blade but it adjustable for other sizes.  I am still cleaning it up, but I am excited to actually see it in action against leather.

New Video on Floral Carving by Saddle Maker Cary Schwarz

I purchased this video and it did
not a let down for me. I really learned some new things and that was one of my purposes for buying the video. There were many things that made me nice to typical why didn't I think of that! Overall, this video displayed the techniques for carving and tooling from one of the industry masters in his field. I cannot wait for the next series.....that is where I have major problems. Thanks Mr. Cary!

Getting Back Into the Groove

I have slowly unpacking my leather stuff after rebuilding my work bench.  After working on a couple of swivel knife blades, I decided to replenish my key chain stock.

Things are still a bit busy, but I have some project ideas on the list. I hope to start them as soon as I can make a bit more room to work.

I hope everyone's weekend is going well.
